This October, most of what happens at RUNWAY takes place on weeknights. From Monday through Wednesday, plus Friday for the first part of the month, the turf at 12775 Millennium Drive has something on the calendar after work. The weekends get two bigger events. Two of the businesses on this month's calendar haven't opened their doors at RUNWAY yet. They're introducing themselves on the lawn first.
A yoga studio is teaching outdoors before its studio shows up in the center's directory. A rotisserie chicken shop served its food at a summer tasting with no opening date announced. And Joliet, which has been at RUNWAY since 2021, is hosting the month's final movie night. Once you know the schedule, October at RUNWAY becomes something you can plan a week around.
The week, laid out
Here's how the recurring October events line up by night, based on RUNWAY's current event listings and Farm Habit's market page.
| Night | What's on | Hours | October dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | Sunset Yoga with Livwell Playa | 6 to 7 p.m. | Oct 5, 12, 19, 26 |
| Tuesday | Spooky Movie Nights | Doors 6:30, film at 7 p.m. | Oct 6, 13, 20, 27 |
| Wednesday | Playa Vista Nights market | 4 to 8 p.m. | Weekly, season runs "Spring–Fall" |
| Friday | Salsa Nights | 6 to 9 p.m. | Through Oct 9 |
| Saturday | Playa Vista Farmers' Market | 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. | Weekly |
The fullest stretch is the one starting Monday. From October 5 through 9, every slot in that table has an event. After Friday the 9th, Salsa Nights wraps up. That series is RUNWAY's Hispanic Heritage Month event: a beginner class with Brett Hoebel from 6 to 7, then a live salsa band from 7 to 9. If you've been putting off the class, October 9 is your last chance.
Monday belongs to a studio that hasn't opened its doors
RUNWAY calls Livwell Playa "a new yoga studio joining RUNWAY this fall, located across from Joliet." Its Monday sessions run 50 minutes on the turf, are open to all levels, and ask you to bring your own mat. RSVP goes through Eventbrite.
As of early October, Livwell doesn't appear in RUNWAY's service directory. So the outdoor classes are confirmed, but we haven't found a public opening date for the indoor studio. That makes the four Monday sessions, October 5 through 26, the first chance to take a class with a business that will probably be your neighbor on Millennium Drive. The 6 p.m. start also lands close to sunset in early October, which is presumably why it's called Sunset Yoga.
Tuesday ends at Joliet's table
Spooky Movie Nights are back on the turf, with a different film each Tuesday:
- October 6: Hocus Pocus
- October 13: Casper
- October 20: The Addams Family, the 1991 version
- October 27: Coco, billed as a special evening with Joliet, with cocktails, pizza and more
Doors open at 6:30 and the movie starts at 7:00 "sharp." Popcorn is free while it lasts, and candy and snacks are for sale. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair. One detail is easy to miss. Headphones go to people who RSVP'd first, on a first-come basis, and you need ID to check out a pair. If headphones matter to your group, RSVP ahead of time.
The October 27 pairing makes sense when you look at Joliet's place in the center. Joliet bills itself as a café and speakeasy, with café hours every morning and a hidden back bar that serves cocktails and dinner Tuesday through Saturday evenings. The Argonaut has described it as an Italian- and Spanish-inspired bistro that opened in 2021 in RUNWAY's Free Market. Livwell is also using Joliet as its landmark, "across from Joliet," to tell people where the new studio will be. That puts a tenant that has been there since 2021 and one that hasn't opened yet on opposite ends of the same October.
Tuesday mornings have their own event, too. Kid's Club with Wild Child runs October 13 from 10 to 11:30 a.m., and RUNWAY lists it as the last Kid's Club of the season.
Wednesday is the market most people haven't caught yet
You probably know the Saturday market. Farm Habit, the operator, says the Playa Vista Certified Farmers' Market dates to 2009. It runs 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Millennium Drive and includes a free community compost hub run by LA Compost and a KidZone for younger kids.
The Wednesday market is called Playa Vista Nights. It runs 4 to 8 p.m. at the same address, and Farm Habit describes it as a midweek market "running Spring–Fall" at RUNWAY. Both markets sell produce, flowers, mushrooms, cheeses, pastries and handmade ceramics, plus ready-to-eat food like French pastries, Venezuelan arepas and Guyanese samosas. Farm Habit also mentions an Oaxacan Mocha made with chocolate that its barista, Gus, makes by hand. Both markets accept CalFresh/EBT at the mint green Info Booth. A free rewards card earns you $5 in Market Bucks on your tenth visit, and visits to either market count toward it.
The one open question is when the Wednesday season ends. Farm Habit's page doesn't give a final date for 2026, and we couldn't find one anywhere else. "Spring–Fall" suggests it won't last much longer, so October's Wednesdays are the safe bet. Both markets operate rain or shine, and Farm Habit says it will post any weather closure on social media first.
Two weekends break the weeknight rhythm
October has two daytime events that look a lot like the farmers market: four hours long, starting at 10 a.m.
Fall Fest, Saturday, October 17, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. RUNWAY lists local makers, live entertainment, pumpkins and seasonal activities. Named vendors include a bracelet bar from @beaditbraceletbar, fall reads from the LA Book Truck by @thefleuria, and a DIY patch bar with accessories from @sunspoke.studio. It runs on the same Saturday morning as the farmers market, so one trip covers both.
Halloween Bash, Sunday, October 25, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is the 7th annual Bash. It includes crafts, a photo booth, spooky characters, a petting zoo and games, with community trick-or-treating at participating RUNWAY businesses from 1:30 to 2:00. RSVP is free, and the participating stores are still listed as "TBA."
The Candy Coach is back, and unlike the Bash, it's ticketed. A ticket gets one empty candy bag and five minutes aboard. The rules are strict. No outside buckets or bags, one parent per child, no extending your five minutes, and up to eight people on the coach at once.
The Halloween Bash on Sunday is followed by the last Livwell yoga session on Monday the 26th and Coco with Joliet on Tuesday the 27th. That makes the final week of October the second-busiest stretch of the month, after the week of October 5.
The tenants you can taste before you can visit
Livwell isn't the only business showing up at RUNWAY before it opens. At Taste of RUNWAY on August 27, the center listed Dizzy Bird as "coming soon" and offered a first taste before it "officially" opened. Coverage of that night in The Pride LA described Dizzy Bird's signature as chargrilled wraps. Dizzy Bird calls itself a neighborhood rotisserie chicken shop. Its birds are spatchcocked, marinated and slow-roasted, and they're halal-certified. In September 2026, Fast Casual reported that the brand had two locations, at Irvine Spectrum and the Shops at Mission Viejo, and named Rashad Moumneh as founder. As of early October, it isn't in RUNWAY's directory, and we haven't found a public opening date.
Seabutter, a sushi and sashimi restaurant, has been on the list longer. In April 2026, What Now Los Angeles reported that Playa Vista would be the chain's fifth location, after Beverly Hills, Glendale, Laguna Beach and Westlake Village, with no firm timeline. RUNWAY's own page for it still reads "COMING SOON."
None of these three openings has a confirmed date as of the first week of October, so check before you head over expecting a meal or a class. Their order of arrival is already clear, though. Dizzy Bird served food at the August tasting, Livwell is teaching on the turf this month, and Seabutter is still a listing in the directory. You can follow each one's progress through the events calendar.
If you're curious how the RUNWAY calendar fits into Playa Vista day to day, or what a steady run of events and new tenants means for a commercial center like this one, Bill Ruane is happy to talk it through. He's tracked South Bay and Westside retail and residential long enough to know which signs to watch. Let's Connect.
